PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Saturday he did not think that any constitutional amendments bill, which would be tabled today, would be in compliance with the constitution, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, he said that a procedure for tabling the bill had been laid down in the constitution, which made following the National Assembly rules mandatory for the purpose. “The House’s approval is a pre-requisite for tabling a bill,” he said, adding, “We have not yet received a copy of the government’s proposed amendment bill.”
Gohar also said that before the government could table the bill, it was also supposed to receive the cabinet’s nod. “And the cabinet did not give any approval for that when it met yesterday,” he reminded.
If any bill, PTI chairman went on to say, was tabled today, it would be a breach of the constitution.
