The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday wrapped up the case of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Chairman Jamil Akhtar’s removal after the federal government withdrew its notification regarding his sacking.
The attorney general admitted that the notice which issued earlier was not right. The IHC concluded the case after the attorney general’s statement.
Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that an illegal way was adopted to remove the KPT chairman.

KPT‘s chairman Jamil Akhtar had moved the court against his removal by the concerned ministry.
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government had removed Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar (retired) on March 26 from the post of Chairman Karachi Port Trust.
The notification said “The Federal Government is pleased to remove Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar (retd) from the post of Chairman Karachi Port Trust (KPT) under Ministry of Maritime Affairs, forthwith by modifying/reducing his period of initial appointment in terms of Section 11 of KPT Act, 1886, with immediate effect".
