WhatsApp has just announced a couple of new updates for the coming months. Your basic chat app is going to get a whole lot more interesting, especially if you engage in a lot of group interactions.

WhatsApp gets big new updates for group conversations.

The biggest addition is the Communities feature that finally makes it to WhatsApp after years of anticipation. Along with that, WhatsApp is also bringing a couple of additional intuitive features to make the whole chatting experience more exciting. If you use WhatsApp a lot, be prepared to spend even more of your valuable time on this app in the future.

Communities comes as the biggest feature update to WhatsApp in a long time. With Community, WhatsApp wants to help organizations like schools, local clubs, and non-profit organizations to coordinate their conversations in a better way.

“Communities on WhatsApp will enable people to bring together separate groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them. That way people can receive updates sent to the entire Community and easily organize smaller discussion groups on what matters to them,” says WhatsApp. The new features will take a toll on other apps like Zoom and MS Team.

WhatsApp get BIG updates

“Communities will also contain powerful new tools for admins, including announcement messages that are sent to everyone and control over which groups can be included,” adds WhatsApp. “We think Communities will make it easier for a school principal to bring all the parents of the school together to share must-read updates and set up groups about specific classes, extracurricular activities, or volunteer needs.”

WhatsApp Community

Other than Communities, WhatsApp is also bringing a couple of new features that could help them communicate in groups. These features will start rolling out on the coming weeks.

Reactions

Emoji reactions, just like how it exists on Facebook and iMessage, are coming to WhatsApp. Hence, people can now share their opinion or express their reaction without flooding chats with new messages. The reactions will be visible as emojis at the bottom of a certain message.

Admin Delete

Group admins will now be able to delete “errant or problematic” messages from everyone’s chats in a group. This gives more power to the group admins to better manage a certain group of people.

File Sharing

Have you always wanted to send large PDF files weighing GB over WhatsApp? Now you can. WhatsApp will now allow users to share up to 2GB of files in groups. This is being done on order to help people collaborate on new projects more easily.

Voice Calls

Voice calls in WhatsApp groups will now be able to add up to 32 participants on a single call. The UI will get a complete new design and should help with hosting quick classes over WhatsApp.
