Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended a plan to operate evacuation flights from Kabul to Islamabad due to the chaotic situation at Hamid Karzai International Airport Kabul, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PIA Spokesperson Abdullah Khan said that PIA's Kabul operation has been suspended due to an uncertain security situation at Kabul Airport.
PIA authorities took the decision after consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Afghan Civil Aviation. PIA Spokespersons said that PIA flights have been postponed indefinitely to protect passengers, crew, and assets.
PIA on Sunday decided to operate three special flights to lift Pakistan nationals and foreigners from Kabul airport but the situation quickly changed as hundreds of thousands of people rushed to Hamid Karzai International Airport Kabul in a bid to get out of the Kabul air space as earliest.
BBC South Asia Bureau Chief tweeted the video of Kabul Airport, “This is, perhaps, one of the saddest images I've seen from Afghanistan. A people who are desperate and abandoned. No aid agencies, no UN, no government. Nothing.”

As per International media reports, US troops have taken full control of the runway of Kabul Airport securing the safe evacuation of US nationals from Afghanistan. All kinds of commercial flights have been cancelled at Kabul airport. On Sunday US lifted the US Embassy staff and its envoy in the country in two US Chinook helicopters at times when Taliban fighters were at the gates of Kabul waiting for the higher command to enter the city.
Another video making rounds on social media from this morning outside Kabul airport with gunfire is also heard in the background.
