Dengue fever is on the rise in Islamabad as three cases of dengue have been reported in the capital city during the last 24 hours, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad, three new dengue cases were reported during the last 24 hours in the federal capital, taking the total number of Dengue virus cases to 17.
Furthermore, in the last 24 hours, as many as two cases were reported in rural and one was reported in urban areas, respectively.
So far, the infection rate in rural areas is higher than in urban areas, as 11 of the total infected patients are from rural areas.
The rest of six people have been affected by dengue in the urban areas of Islamabad.
The DHO said that a dengue patient is under treatment at PIMS Hospital while four dengue patients are under treatment at Holy Family Hospital and three at DHQ Hospital.
The health officer continued that eight dengue patients are under treatment in private hospitals in Islamabad.
Among the current season dengue patients, 82 percent are male while 18 percent are female, DHO concluded.
