Amir Khan, the British boxer of Pakistani origin, on Wednesday visited The Kartarpur Corridor, a visa-free border crossing and secure corridor connecting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to the border with India.
The crossing allows Sikh devotees from India to visit the Gurdwara in Kartarpur, 4.7 kilometres from the India–Pakistan border on the Pakistani side, without a visa.
Speaking about his visit to the Sikh holy place, Khan described it as a pleasant experience. He thanked the authorities for their best hospitality. He said that Gurdwara Darbar Sahib was a true symbol of interfaith harmony. He said that Pakistan had given its minorities true religious freedom. Contrary to Pakistan, he said, India was taking measures against its minorities.
Khan said that India was taking new measures against minorities every day whether it is the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, historic Babri Mosque or the Sikh community. He urged the Indian government to open the border crossing for the Sikh community and allow them to visit their holy places in Pakistan.
