In view of rising inflation, the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) Friday decided to give a big relief to public transport passengers on Metro Bus Service, Orange Line Metro Train service, and Speedo Bus Service from this month (December).
According to the 24News HD TV channel, under the new relief package of the PMTA, senior citizens and disabled persons will travel free on Metro Bus routes in Punjab.
The PMTA has also decided to give a 30 percent discount to students and working women on their Metro Bus traveling in the province.
As per the channel report, discount cards for the PMTA’s travel services will also be issued on a weekly and monthly basis to the students and working ladies.
The channel reported on Friday that the PMTA has given approval of introducing discount smart cards on a weekly and monthly basis.
The PMTA has decided that the Weekly Discount Card (WDC) will provide an unlimited travel facility with Rs400 while the Monthly Discount Card (MDC) will provide an unlimited travel facility with Rs1,600.
PMTA General Manager Syed Uzair Shah said the smart card with modern features will be issued to the consumers after the regular verification process.
He also said that the citizens will get the discount in traveling on Metro Bus, Metro Train, and Speedo Bus this month.
