The PML-N huddle in Lahore on Monday decided to keep the names of three candidates it shortlisted for Punjab caretaker chief minster post under wraps until the party holds consultations with coalition partners – PPP and PML-N, reported 24NewsHD TV channel, quoting sources.
The PML-N meeting chaired by party Quaid Nawaz Sharif through a video link on Monday deliberated for hours and shortlisted three names from several probables.
The meeting decided to keep the names secret until it discussed the issue with PDM and PPP.
According to the sources, the meeting also took up allotting of tickets and setting up of a parliamentary boar.
Opposition leader out of country
PML-N has also decided to appoint a party representative to take up appointment of interim CM with Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi as Leader of the Opposition in the provincial assembly Hamza Shehbaz is out of the country.
The top leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the meeting held at Model Town, Lahore.
PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz also attended the meeting through a video link, according to the party sources.
PML-N leaders Khawaja Saad Rafique and Azam Nazeer Tarar also attended the meeting held at the residence of Shehbaz Sharif in Model Town.
A meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari on the issue is also likely.
Pervaiz Elahi forwards his names to governor
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Monday forwarded his choice of three names to Governor Balighur Rehman for appointing one of them as caretaker CM.
Pervaiz Elahi’s list included names of Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera, Nasir Khosa and Naseer Khan. Pervaiz Elahi finalized these names after holding talks with PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Sunday.
