Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza said on Thursday that those who opened gunfire at the protesters at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on November 26 would be held accountable.

Addressing a press conference, Raza said that political workers who were injured during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) were shot at and they received bullet wounds. He said that SIC and its ally PTI had a complete list of the workers who were wounded or killed by the gunfire. He said they had proof of this and they would submit this proof to the judicial commission once it is formed. He said that those who opened the fire should not claim innocence. He asked the rulers to form a judicial commission and the truth would come out. He however said they would not give the lists of the deceased and wounded workers to any individual; they would give these lists to the judicial commission only.

Raza said the PTI information secretary initially issued a list of 200 missing persons. He said this list became trimmer as people were released. He said he understands the pain of missing persons. He said that PTI found most of the 256 missing persons on its own. He said they knew the government’s negotiating team would run away from talks. He said the government could not even arrange a meeting of the PTI leaders with the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. He said the PTI leadership knew from the very first day that the government’s negotiations team was powerless, but they did not admit it.
