Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) Chief Jahangir Tareen said on Saturday that two party office-bearers Aun Chaudhry and Nauman Langrial, who were currently federal ministers, would not resign from their seats until the coalition government completed its term, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking at the party’s meeting, he said that it was to pull the country out of crisis that the IPP had come into being. “We want to see political and economic stability in the country,” he said, adding, “Keeping in view the current situation, the country’s interests are closer to our heart than the party’s interests.”

He made it clear that the IPP wanted to give the message of unity so that there could be political stability in the country.

At a time, he went on to say, when the country’s deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was in final stages, there was a greater need for cohesion. “The IMF, too, wants to see Pakistan politically and economically stable,” the IPP chief said.

Tareen further said that the party, by quitting the federal cabinet at this time, did not want to send negative signals.

The IPP chief said that the party would take decisions prior to next general elections keeping in view the situation existing at that time. “Our first priority is ‘stable Pakistan’,” he concluded.
