The federal cabinet has approved the Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERT) Rules 2023 to prevent cyberattacks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

As per the official sources, the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) started preparing these rules in 2021 under the PECA Act 2016 and the National Cyber Security Policy 2021.

All the stakeholders and the institutions concerned were fully consulted for CERT Rules 2023.

“Under the CERT rules, immediate operational facilities and technical response will be provided in any government institution or department on the matter related to cyber security,” Minister for Information Technology Syed Aminul Haque said.

“Under the rules, a facility of a state-of-the-art risk management process will be provided against cyberattacks,” he added.

“Under the rules, CERT teams will be formed at the national, government, federal, provincial and sectoral levels. A Cert Council will be established for the effective operation of all the CERT teams,” he stated.

“The national and sectoral organisations will play their role in cyber security prevention and effective response to cyberattacks. The CERT teams will enhance the capabilities of all organisations across the country against cyberattacks,” he averred.
