The 9th Muharram Al-Haram processions and majalis were held with devotion and respect across the country on Tuesday in memory of the great sacrifices of the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Mourning processions were taken out all over the country today to mark 9th of Muharram in which a huge number of devotees of Imam Hussain (RA) took part to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala.
Majalis were held in the mosques and Imambargahs in which Ulema, Zakirin and scholars are throwing light on the philosophy of martyrdom and virtues of Ahl-e-Bayt.
A series of processions, congregations and mourning ceremonies were staged in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi and other cities.
Strict security arrangements have been made on this occasion and mobile phone service is also partially suspended on the procession routes in different cities.
Sabiles (drinking water, milk stalls) and Langar Hussaini were arranged for the mourners on the procession routes.
The main procession of 9th Muharram Haram in Lahore came out from Pandu Street in Islampura and passed through the traditional routes of Islampura Bazaar, Secretariat and Old Anarkali and will end at Kheima Sadat. Strict security arrangements were made on the procession routes with walk-through gates have been installed in the area, while fences, containers and barriers have been erected to seal the arrival point and route of the procession.
The 9th Muharram procession in Islamabad started from Imambargah G-6 which will culminate after reaching Imambargah through the designated routes.

In Karachi, the New Haram procession was taken out from Liaquatabad Martin Quarter, the procession reached Nishtar Park by noon. The main procession in city will leave Nishtar Park at 1 pm, which will pass through the designated routes and will end at Khader Hussainia Irania Imambargah.
A total of 18 mourning processions were taken out today in Peshawar including two main processions of Shabiya Zul-Jinnah.
The first procession set out from Sadar Imam Bargah Hussainiya Hall at 10 am, while the second procession left from Imambargah Qamar Bani Hashim Ali Colony City.
A total of more than 14,000 policemen have been deployed for security of these processions.
The main procession of 9 Muharram in Hyderabad was taken out from Latifabad Unit No. 5 under Anjuman Guldasta Akbar. At sunset, the procession will end at the same place.
The main procession in Attock was ended. Foolproof security arrangements were made and more than 500 security personnel were deputed.
The historical Nodhala mourning procession in Sukkur has stopped at Mandu Khabar while mourning procession of Aqdas Shrine in Rohri reached Mandu Khabar.
The mourning procession of Zareeh Aqdas resumed its journey from Mandukhbar to Karbala Maidan for its next destination.
During procession, several mourners injured, hundreds became unconscious during the attempt to disperse the mourning procession. The injured were shifted to Rohri Hospital in Sukkur while the unconscious persons were given medical aid in the camps of voluntary organizations.
In Deherki, the main procession moved from the National Highway to the traditional routes and the procession will end at the central Haider Imambargah.
The main procession took off from Talagang, Imambargah Pir Bukhari and after passing through traditional routes will end at Imambargah Pir Bukhari at 7 pm.
The main procession of Haripur 9th of Muharram Al-Haram took place from Imambargah Sajjadia. The procession will end at Imambargah Shiranwala gate at 5 pm through its scheduled route.
Youm-e-Ashur
Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth of Muharram-ul-Haram, will be observed tomorrow across the country with due solemnity to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions in Karbala.
Mourning processions will be taken out in all cities and towns of the country.
Ulema and Zakireen will highlight the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and various aspects of Karbla tragedy.
Mobile service partially suspended
Mobile phone service remained active in 17 districts of Punjab while it was partially suspended in the rest of the province during the 9th of Muhammad and same will happen on 10th of Muharram.
According to the spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the cellular service remained active in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Khushab, Sialkot, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara and Chiniot.
It is recommended that the cellular services are suspended only in the surrounding areas of processions and Majalis for security reasons, he added.
The spokesperson said mobile services partially suspended in Gujranwala, Narowal, Toba Tek Singh, Bhakkar, Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad, Rajanpur, Faisalabad, Bahawalnagar, Hafizabad, Gujrat, DG Khan and Jhang.
The spokesperson clarified that cellular services will not be completely suspended in any city of the Punjab.
The partial suspension of mobile signals will continue from 8am till 10pm during the 9th and 10th of Muharram on procession routes and areas of Majalis in the already mentioned districts only.
He added that cellular network services were suspended at 28 locations in Rawalpindi, 15 locations in Rahimyar Khan, 11 locations in Mianwali and Bahawalpur. Mobile service remained suspended at 10 places in Layyah, seven places in Muzaffargarh and six places in Nankana Sahib.
