The federal cabinet on Tuesday decided to restore the international flights operation in phases, as Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the relevant authorities to formulate a plan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The decision was taken after Special Assistant to the PM for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari raised the issue at the meeting chaired by the prime minister.

According to sources, in the first phase flights will be restored to the Arab countries and repatriation of Pakistani labourers and workers stranded there will be given priority.

The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) said last week that the government had repatriated more than 61,000 stranded Pakistanis from 50 countries, with thousands still stuck at foreign shores, looking for their return amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
