It seems that the Punjab government has forgotten its own promise to bring austerity into its day-to-day affairs as documents revealed that there was a 200 percent surge in air travel by the government people, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The use of helicopters and planes by the political personalities of the Punjab government took the expenditure sky high in just one year.
According to the documents, Rs48.427 million were spent on the helicopters and planes used by the dignitaries against the estimated cost of Rs15.43 million.

Rs33.384 million more were spent on air travel due to additional visits of the dignitaries.
It may be mentioned here that the cost mentioned above has not included other expenses including flight operations crew and their salaries.
