The Punjab government has eyed revenue generation through an unlikely sector – the liquor sale.
According to a 24NewsHD TV channel report, the Punjab government has made a bizarre decision to earn more from the sale of the liquor in the country.
The provincial government has set a revenue collection target of Rs1billion through taxes on the sale of liquor for fiscal year 2021-22.
During the current fiscal year, the government generated Rs720million revenue from the sale of liquors in the province.
It may be noted that consuming liquor is illegal in the country and is sold only in the pretext of liquor permits given to the non-Muslim communities.
