Shots were fired at the house of former Punjab governor Latif Khosa in Lahore in which his servant was injured and his car and the gate of the house damaged, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

It was learnt that seven shots had been fired at the house of Latif Khosa from a pistol and a Kalashnikov. The shots pierced through the car parked in the garage and the gate of the house.

A servant identified as Javed, who was in the garage, received a shot in his leg, and he was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Latif Khosa in his statement expressed resolve to continue the fight for the rule of law, stating that he would not be afraid of those mean tactics.

He also stated that he would not back off from his position, adding that he would not get the case registered until the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) came.

Senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan reached the house of Latif Khosa to express solidarity with him and demanded a transparent investigation into the incident.

A heavy police force reached the house of Latif Khosa, but the police’s behaviour regarding investigation into the incident remained cold.

Cantt Superintendent of Police (SP) Awais Shafiq kept avoiding questions put to him by the media.

The SP (investigation) also reached the house of Latif Khosa and listened to the former’s statement regarding the incident.

Latif Khosa said that he would file a complaint for the registration of a case against the incident only after the Punjab IGP come to his house.

He said that his daughter had told him about the firing. “My client told me that this is Kalashnikov’s fire. Meanwhile, my driver came who was shot in the leg. Bullet shells were scattered in my house. Thank God [there was no loss of life],” he added.

“Firing at my house is a failed attempt to suppress the lawyers’ movement. I had shed blood in the chief justice restoration movement. They cannot silence me or Aitzaz Ahsan through these tactics,” he stated.

“If they think that they will suppress the lawyers’ movement through these tactics and change our resolve, it is their illusion,” he added.
