Eidal Adha being celebrated in Pakistan today

The nation is all set to mark Eidal Adha across Pakistan today (Monday) with religious fervour.


The law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) have drawn up a well-coordinated plan to avert untoward incidents.


People in district Khyber and some other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) started celebrating the three-day event with their brethren in Saudi Arabia.

Eid congregations were held at different places in the district on Sunday. 


Afghans living in Peshawar too celebrated Eid on Sunday as thousands gathered at a mosque in Tajabad, a suburban area of the KP capital, for the Eid prayers. Later they slaughtered their animals.  Also, the Bohra community living in Karachi celebrated Eid on Sunday.

President Asif Ali Zardari will celebrate Eid in Nawabshah.


The president arrived at his hometown yesterday for the purpose.


Majority of SC, LHC judges marking festivity in Lahore


Majority of judges of the Supreme Court (SC) and the Lahore High Court (LHC) will celebrate Eid in Lahore.


SC judges namely Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Ameenuddin Khan, Justice Ayesha A. Malik will be in Lahore for the occasion.


Similarly, Justice Shahid Waheed of the apex court, former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani will also celebrate Eid in the provincial capital.


Likewise, Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Justice Miss Alia Neelum, Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh of the LHC will also celebrate Eid in Lahore.


100 camels, 100 goats, 10 cows to be slaughtered at Sindh Governor's House 


As promised by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, 100 camels, 100 goats and 10 cows will be slaughtered at the Governors’ House during the Eid days.


Later packets of ration as well as meat will also be distributed among deserving people.


Security stepped up


PEidal Adha being celebrated in KP, Karachi and Saudi Arabiaolice in Lahore have drawn up a security plan so that peace could be ensured on the occasion.


Over 6,000 police personnel, including 6 SPs, 22 DSPs, 83 SHOs and 480 upper subordinates will guard Eid congregations.


CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana has said that the Force is determined to protect mosques and imambargahs on the Eid day, and all resources are being utilized for the purpose. “Walkthrough gates have been installed at entrances to mosques and imambargahs while police personnel will frisk bodies of the people coming for the prayers with metal detectors,” he has informed.       


Kamyana has also made it clear that the police will make sure that directives issued by the Punjab government regarding the collection of hides after the slaughter of animals are implemented in true letter and spirit.


The CCPO has ordered the police personnel to carry out search and combing operations in the provincial capital. “Especially check those persons who are either entering or exiting from the city,” he ordered.
