Good news for the heart patients, visiting the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Karachi for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tests, will now be able to get these tests done free of cost, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
NICVD Administrative Executive Dr. Tariq Sheikh has said that so far over 70 such tests have been conducted for free. “At private hospitals, these tests cost Rs63,000,” he has said, adding, “Now the patients, requiring open heart surgery, those who have received sudden cardiac arrest or those with holes in their hearts will now have the diagnosis of their ailments without spending a single penny.”
The institute’s Executive Director Professor Tahir Sagheer has informed that a special machine, costing over Rs600 million, has been installed for the purpose in collaboration with the government of Sindh.
On the other hand, Dr. Tariq Sheikh has said that courtesy cooperation extended by the provincial government, treatment facilities at the NICVD are being further improved, which will benefit not only the people of Sindh but of the entire country.
