Members of apex bodies of bar councils met with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and Ahsan Bhoon were also present in the meeting held in Lahore.
During meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced to increase the grant to Rs1 billion for the welfare of lawyers.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also announced to establish a dedicated hall and day care center for women lawyers in the Bar Council.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep grief and sorrow over the news of the killing of two lawyers in Attock.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the police arrested the accused.
The CM directed to prosecute accused in special court under Bar Council Act and Lawyers Protection Act.
It is the responsibility of the government to ensure the protection of the lawyers' community, Maryam Nawaz said.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also condoled with the officials of Bar Councils for the killing of lawyers.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif accepted the invitation to visit the Punjab Bar Council and also accepted the invitation to visit by the presidents of Bahawalpur and Multan Bars.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif gave checks of Rs50 million to Punjab Bar Council and Rs10 million each to Bahawalpur and Multan High Court Bar.
The meeting agreed to restore treatment facilities in government hospitals for lawyers’ community.
Talking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said that the efforts of the lawyers’ community for the supremacy of law is commendable and she will fully support to ensure the rule of law and equal access to justice of the individual.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the government will continue to perform administrative responsibilities to increase the efficiency of the judicial system and timely delivery of justice.
In a meeting with Bar delegation, the CM discussed strengthening the partnership between the provincial government and the lawyer community.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz assured the bar delegation of the government's support to solve the problems of lawyers.
