CM orders closure of all shrines in Punjab for three weeks over virus fears

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Sunday ordered closure of all shrines in the province to the public over coronavirus fears.
The Punjab chief secretary was directed to implement the decision immediately. Keeping in view the increasing number of coronavirus patients in the country, 52 as of Sunday, March 15, shrines will also remain closed for the next three weeks. The decision has been taken contain the spread of virus in the province.
Earlier on Friday, the government decided to close all educational institutions across the country until April 5 in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
Shafqat Mahmood, federal minister for education, professional training and national heritage, made this announcement in a tweet after attending a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) on coronavirus outbreak and prevention on Friday evening. He said the government would review the situation once again on March 27 and decide the future course of action.
Besides closure of educational institutions, including religious schools, the meeting recommended the government to declare a public health emergency in the country to deal with the situation in an effective way.
