The federal government officers have recommended making federal ministers answerable for their decisions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Quoting sources, the TV channel reported that in their recommendations forwarded to Prime Minister Imran Khan through Secretary Committee they had also raised questions over the role of technical advisers in the ministries.
In their recommendations, the bureaucrats have said that the secretaries are the principal accounting officers of their respective ministries and divisions, and that the people heading these ministries (ministers) should also be held answerable for the steps they take.
They have questioned whether technical advisers working in these ministries were over and above the federal secretaries since they, instead of assisting in technical matters, give their opinion like secretaries on each and every matter.
They have stressed that technical advisers needed to understand that there was difference between a federal secretary and a private secretary.
The sources have told 24News TV channel that the prime minister has assured the federal government officers of addressing their complaints.
