The Executive Board of National Accountability Bureau has approved closing inquiry against former CIA officer Umar Virk, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
The bureau board gave the approval in a meeting with its chief Justice (r) Javed Iqbal in the chair on Wednesday.
According to sources, the pleas against the top cop were declared baseless as the corruption charges were not proved.
Umar was accused of corruption in the Shehbaz Sharif government in Punjab.
In July 2018, NAB launched an investigation and also wrote letters to the LDA and others for inquiry.
The insiders said Umar continued appearing before the inquiry committee with evidence and submitted a written reply to it.
Reportedly, he earned a good reputation in the public service department and got rewards for his bravery and courage in bringing to book hardcore criminals.
