A doctor saved a man who was drowning in River Sindh after jumping into it, apparently in a suicide attempt in Hyderabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Reportedly, several people gathered at Kotri Barrage on River Sindh when they saw that a man was ready to jump into the river. Seeing the multitude of people at the barrage, Dr Matiur Rehman pulled his car over and got off. But by that time, the man had jumped into the river.
The onlookers were still watching him drowning, but the brave doctor dived into the river and swam the man back to the river bank.
Seeing the courageous doctor who was in the river to save a drowning man, the Kotri Barrage rescue staff also revved up the engine of their rescue boat and launched it into the water. But the doctor had already done the needful and fished the man out.
Then the doctor performed first aid on the drowning man by compressing his chest and provided soft puffs so that his breathing could be eased and he won’t choke on any water regurgitation.
Dr Mati is a neuro surgeon at the Liaquat Medical University Hospital, Hyderabad.
He said that the man who was around 35-year-old was shifted to the hospital for further medical assistance.
