Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has expressed gratitude to President Asif Ali Zardari and PM Shehbaz Sharif for helping resolve the demo issue.

"The people of Azad Kashmir got relief and the AJK government is satisfied," he said while addressing a press conference with his cabinet members on Wednesday.

He said flour subsidy and electricity tariff cut was the people's right but peace must not be disrupted.

He reiterated his resolve to maintain law and order. “Challenging the writ of the government and creating a law and order situation in the name of demo can’t be allowed.

One law personnel embraced martyrdom while 273 soldiers sustained injuries and three vehicles were torched.

Three people died in the five-day demonstrations for power tariff cut, floor subside and withdrawal of the elite privileges in AJK.

“The loss of human lives is deeply regretted,” he added.

“Had the crowd withdrawn the march after the release of the notification, there would have been no loss of human life,” Haq said.

He stressed the AJK government had fulfilled its responsibilities to solve the public problems.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the immediate provision of Rs23 billion to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) after the region witnessed clashes and protests in the past few days.

President Zardari and PM Shehbaz vowed to address the “genuine demands” of protesters, urging all stakeholders to exercise restraint and resolve the issues through dialogue.

He expressed his condolences over the three deaths during demos, saying the bereaved families will be compensated with dignity.

He said: "The AJK government is representing its people.

"I raised the demands of the Public Action Committee with the Senate’s Standing Committee.

“Inciting the public or creating hatred against Pakistan cannot be allowed.”

He added:  "We know the network of Raw and India in AJK."

"The Rangers were only supposed to guard the installation.

He continued: "President Asif Ali Zardari said that if giving aid to Kashmiris burdens the federal government, we can give it from Sindh,” Haq said.

“The Modi government can give such incentives in occupied Kashmir."

"An endowment fund is being established to end the employment.

"Big crisis averted. There is neither victory nor defeat for anyone, it is the victory of the AJK people".
