Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has proposed a category of freelancer for commercial use of VPN and made it clear that anyone can get a VPN registered for commercial use, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PTA spokesperson said for commercial use of VPN, application can be made under the category of freelancers as PTA has made the VPN registration process more easier.
The spokesperson said IT companies, banks and freelancers can get VPE registered on the PTA website. Members of the Pakistan Software Export Board can also avail this facility. So far, more than 20,000 companies and freelancers have registered VPN. VPN registration requires completing an online form and providing basic details. Details include identity card number, company registration details, and taxpayer status. Freelancers will have to provide additional information for verification during VPN registration.
The spokesperson said freelancers must provide proof of affiliation with their project or company. Applicants must also provide an IP address for VPN connectivity. In the case of a fixed IP address, it can be obtained from the Internet Service Provider, Interpreter. The VPN registration process is free and approved within 8 to 10 hours.
