Bilawal-led PPP caravan gets in Gujranwala

Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his supporters have made it to Gujranwala, a town chosen by the opposition parties to kick off a joint campaign to topple the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf government.

Prior to showing up at Jinnah Stadium – the protest venue– Bilawal stopped over at the residence of Mian Azhar Hasan Dar and had a meeting with Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

The Bilawal-led caravan took three hours to reach the district as he got a warm welcome all the way from Kaira’s residence in Lala Musa to Dar’s house. Addressing his supporters at Wazirabad, the PPP chief said opposition parties have taken to the streets against ‘tyrant rulers’.

He said opposition parties from the platform of PDM will fight against the prevailing system and restore the real democracy in the country.

Headed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, more than 10 opposition parties including PML-N, PPP and ANP joined hands for am anti-government campaign titled Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

Moments before rushing to the venue, Maryam tweeted:  It took her around six hours to get out of Lahore due to the “sea of people”.

“Now rushing to Gujranwala”, she added. Former PM Nawaz Sharif is also likely to address the rally via video link from London

Fazlur Rehman told the media in Lahore that the opposition was committed and parties have united to restore the sanctity of the people's vote.
