Armed men loot aid truck in Umarkot

A truck carrying relief goods worth lakhs of rupees was looted at gunpoint in Umarkot on Friday. Police, however, recovered one motorcycle and three ration bags during their hunt to trace the aid vehicle, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

According to details, the Mazda truck was carrying rations and other relief goods for flood affectees and was on its way near Samaro Tehsil in Umarkot, when it was looted by armed gunmen.

The gunmen stopped the truck on Kot Ghulam Muhammad Road and drove away the truck carrying the relief goods. After looting 400 ration bags and goods worth Rs1.3 million, they returned the Mazda truck to its driver. 

A case has not yet been registered but Umarkot police recovered a motorcycle and three ration bags from a nearby village. 

Moreover, the truck and its driver were taken to the police station for further investigation. 

According to police officials, the incident occurred late Thursday night and due to darkness, the police could not carry further investigation. However, it will take further action today.
