The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) task force Peshawar circle raided the house of a former MNA involved in the theft of a large amount of electricity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
The former MNA is also a defaulter of Rs2.3 million of Pesco.
The Pesco team fined the former MNA and submitted a plea to the police for the registration of a case.
“The Pesco task force raided the ex-MNA’s house with police,” the Pesco spokesperson said.
He also said that more than 1,500 illegal power supply connections had been disconnected and Rs50 million imposed as fine on electricity thieves during the past two weeks.
He added that over 1,200 pleas had been submitted to police for the registration of FIRs against electricity thieves.
“FIRs have been registered against more than 300 electricity thieves. Several electricity thieves were arrested on the spot and handed over to police,” he stated.
He said that the Pesco customers could report electricity theft by dialing 118.
