Pakistan is likely to face shortage of onions as despite paying all taxes and duties to customs authorities, traders at Chaman still complained that they are facing difficulties in import of onions, grapes reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Traders said that customs personnel deputed at Garang Check Post and Shela Bagh Check-Post are frequently intercepting trucks loaded with onions and grapes and forcing them to pay Rs5,000 for clearance of vehicle.
Traders appealed to concerned authorities to take notice of the situation on priority basis. They said that the government’s strict action will pave way for smooth supply of onions.
