The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has extended the deadline of country’s seventh ongoing digital census to April 20 for the second time, due to the teachers’ shortage in government schools across Punjab, including Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Earlier, the date was extended from April 10 to April 15.
The teachers’ shortage has severely affected the admission process in schools.
The schools went empty at the peak of academic session, especially for secondary level, because the teachers were carrying out their national duty of conducting the population census.
Consequently, the heads of the schools demanded that the teachers deputed on the census be sent back.
The district administration has sent a notification to all district education authorities.
According to the notification, teachers deputed on census should not be appointed on any other duty.
