Govt set to scap age limit of 65 years for key appointments

The government has decided to abolish the age limit of 65 years set by the PTI government for key appointments, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


According to reliable sources, a summary of removing the age requirement up to 65 years against the appointments has been prepared.


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif allowed the officials to take the approval of the summary from the federal cabinet.


 The decision to eliminate the age restriction comes as part of the way for new appointments on special professional pay scales. 


The federal government has decided to increase the efficiency of federal ministries and divisions.


Under the new policy, talented professionals, technical experts, and consultants will be hired.


After the amendments, there will be no upper age limit for appointments of the professionals.


Under the amendment, new appointments will be possible after the age of 65, sources added.


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had established a committee under the chairmanship of the Finance Minister to prepare the policy.


A committee headed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb Zeb suggested the amendments, sources said. The government considered that amendments in the 2019 policy are necessary to promote new talent in the country, sources said.


The governance system in the federal ministries and divisions will be made effective by bringing innovation.
