Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday announced that Balochistan’s share in the NFC Award has been doubled, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing the stone-laying ceremony of Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass in Islamabad, the prime minister said taking all provinces along was the government’s as well as the country’s armed forces’ vision.

The prime minister said that the country was now on the path to progress. “Development projects are underway across the federal capital, which have reduced the burden of traffic on the roads.”

Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, he added, deserved appreciation for the beautification of Islamabad.

PM Shehbaz said that the government was now going to develop a road in Balochistan, which had so far claimed the lives of close to 2,000 persons, into a highway. “This is a gift from us for the people of the province.”

Shehbaz Sharif said the federal government is committed to ensure equal development of all federating units of the country. He said development of all provinces is the development of Pakistan and it is the reason that a significant increase has been made in allocation of funds for Balochistan.

The Prime Minister, mentioning the project of dualization of N-25 Highway in Balochistan, said this project will be completed within two years. He said this project testifies our resolve for development of Balochistan as funds from national exchequer have been channeled for this project.

He said during the last one year, the government team has achieved significant milestones including an improved rating for the country by international agency Fitch.

Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the steps taken for beautification of Islamabad and emphasized continuing the same.

Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the project would be completed in 35 days rather than in 60 days. “The government has started taking steps to deal with the parking issues in the federal capital,” he informed.

Already, he informed, work had begun on reducing traffic congestion at Faisal Mosque Chowk. “Similarly, we are going to expand the Blue Area’s parking plaza.”

Earlier, Mohsin Naqvi briefed the participants of ceremony that the Underpass will be opened for traffic within 35 days. He said traffic choke points of Islamabad are being worked out as traffic jam is a major problem. He said these steps will help improve traffic flow.

The Interior Minister said Capital Development Authority has devised a parking plan in view of the increasing traffic in commercial areas. He said work has been started on parking plaza in blue area accordingly.
