In a major development, Dotani tribes in South Waziristan have thrown their weight behind the security forces and announced to together combat Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Sources told 24News TV channel that the tribes announced their decision at a Jirga they convened following the killings of constable Hameed Shahid and Ashraf by militants.
They added this was not the first time that resistance had been offered to the militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
It was due to this resistance that the militants had lost hope and were demoralized, sources said.
They informed that on the night between April 12 and April 13, residents of a village, situated on the border between Dera Ghazi Khan and Dera Ismael Khan, forced the militants to flee.
Defence experts, on the other hand, have said that the fact that the people of the province have stood up against militants is a great setback to the latter.
They have said that given that people have now made up their minds to ostracize militants, the latter will find no place to hide.
