ECP to deploy army, rangers in Karachi by-polls

Fearing violence and attempts of rigging in the upcoming by-election in NA-245 Karachi, the government has decided to deploy the army, and rangers at polling stations from 21st to 23rd of August, reported 24 News HD TV Channel Wednesday. 

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, troops of the Pakistan Army and Rangers will be deployed outside the polling stations as Quick Response Force in the constituency from August 20 to August 22. 

The by-election of NA-245 is scheduled to take place on August 21. The NA-245 seat had fallen vacant after the death of PTI MNA Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nominated Mahmood Moulvi as its candidate. His contest will be held with MQM Moeed Anwar, a joint candidate of PDM.
