Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has relaunched its much prestigious 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Project by planting a sampling of avocado on the premises of his residence at Bani Gala in Islamabad, reported 24 News HD TV Channel on Wednesday.
PTI governments in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces will plant a total of 200 million saplings during the current rainy season. Reports said 1.4 million saplings were planted on the occasion of Independence Day in the country.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan in his special message regarding the planting campaign to the nation said climate change has had a major negative impact on Pakistan in the current as it experienced the hottest temperatures during the months of March and April as compared to the rest of world.
“Due to the intensity of heat, the incidents of fire in the forests of Pakistan have increased. The rains came prematurely in Pakistan in the current year and caused floods. Due to climate change, glaciers had broken in three places in the northern regions resultantly, floods occurred throughout the country. It is the responsibility of the nation to plant trees for the better future of our children”, he added.
