The Pakistan Peoples Party has decided to take out rallies across the country tomorrow (Sunday) in support of its Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s statement about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York branding his as ‘Butcher of Gujarat’, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

PPP Secretary General Syed Nayyar Bukhari on Saturday said that the party would take out rallies in support of Foreign Minister Bilawal’s statement about Modi which drew a severe criticism from across the border.

Yesterday, the India’s ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest against Pakistan near its High Commission in New Delhi over Foreign Minister Bilawal’s remarks about Indian Prime Minister Modi. The protesters were demanding of Bilawal to extend apology on his remarks.

During a briefing at the United Nations on Thursday, Bilawal responded to his Indian counterpart who accused Pakistan of perpetrating terrorism and sheltering Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Ladin. He said: “I would like to remind Mr Jaishankar that Osama bin Laden is dead, but the butcher of Gujarat lives, and he is the prime minister (of India).”

PPP Secretary General Bukhari said that FM Bilawal’s arrow had wounded Modi as his party (BJP) leaders were incensed. He said that Bilawal had shown mirror to the Indian prime minister at an event of the United Nations.

India's Hindu nationalist leader Modi was chief minister of the state of Gujarat when sectarian riots in 2002 left more than 1,000 people dead.

Modi has been accused of turning a blind eye to the violence, and until his election was denied entry to the US.
