On a special invitation from Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome, and US Consul General Kristen Hawkins visited Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore on Tuesday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The delegation toured the historic Sikh site, accompanied by the Provincial Minister. During their visit, they were gifted a "Chadar Sahib" or "Kirpan Chadar", symbolising respect and goodwill.
The US officials observed the religious rituals performed at the Gurdwara and received a detailed briefing about the cultural and religious significance of the site. They received detailed information about the performance of religious rituals.
In a special meeting of the Provincial Minister and the American delegation, they discussed the protection of the rights of religious minorities and the issuance of minority cards and also discussed the current situation in Pakistan.
They discussed the rights of the minority community and important issues for their welfare and also discussed the early issuance of the "Minorities Card."
Speaking on the occasion, Kristen Hawkins said that providing identity and other rights to the minority community is a commendable step.
Kristen Hawkins said we are ready to provide all possible support to protect the rights of the minority community.
Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora said such visits will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
This visit shows the commitment to resolve the issues of the Pakistani minority community, Ramesh Singh said. He said it will be an important step towards protecting minority rights.
