The Archaeology Department has discovered the remains of an ancient civilization dating around 2,100 years during the excavation in DG Khan district.
During the excavation at Mound Dillu Roy, a Buddhist era site, ancient coins have been discovered besides a kiln.
Further excavation is underway and the archaeologists have expressed the hope they may find extensive historical treasures and even find a Harrapa-like civilization.
Mound Dillu Roy was notified as a protected site in February 1964. The study of the ancient artefacts recovered from the site revealed it was inhabited by Buddhists in the Scytho-Parthian period, some 2,100 years ago.
The site lies 2.5 miles northwest of tehsil Jampur and consists of two mounds, roughly 100-150 feet apart. The larger one measuring 1460x800x15 feet marks the site of the city and the smaller one, about 380 feet North-South, 950 feet East-West, has been identified as the remains of a fort.
