Bid to smuggle heroin to UK foiled

The Customs officials have foiled a bid to smuggle heroin to Britain and seized a parcel during checking in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The officials of Pakistan Customs Airport Drug Enforcement Cell recovered 450 grams of heroin during checking of parcels booked for the British city of Birmingham on Wednesday.

According to the authorities, the value of the recovered drug is 4.5 million rupees.

After seizing the heroin, the authorities have registered a case under Customs Act against a resident of Peshawar who booked the parcel. A special team had been constituted to apprehend the accused.

The Customs Drug Enforcement Cell at International Mail Office (IMO) II Chundrigarh Road during checking of a parcel of non-stick cooking pans recovered 450 grams of heroin tactfully concealed in specially-created hidden draws in the bottom of a cooking pan.
