The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Law and Justice Thursday passed two bills with a majority of its members for amending the NAB law, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

Members of the opposition protested against passage of the bills, saying that it clearly showed dishonesty of the government. They stated that they were on their way to the standing committee meeting when the bills were passed in their absence. They asked the government to take the opposition into confidence on all clauses of the bills. They also came down hard on the standing committee chairman for being ‘dishonest’.

On the occasion, a heated argument occurred between PPP’s Qadir Mandokhail and PTI’s Attaullah at which MQM-P’s Kishwer Zehra asked the former to abstain from using foul language.

“I did not expect this type of behaviour from you,” PML-N’s Saad Rafique said to Standing Committee Chairman Riaz Fatyana. “I arrived late for voting due to fog. Rana Sanaullah was also on his way to the meeting. You should not have started voting for the bills in our absence,” he added.

Members of the opposition also walked out of the standing committee meeting in protest.
