The weekly inflation in the country has recorded an increase of 2.89% making the overall inflation to gallop at 38.42%, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to data released by Statistics Bureau of Pakistan on Friday, the Sensitive Price Index for the current week ended on 16th February, 2023 recorded an increase of 2.89% while the year on year trend has depicted an increase of 38.42%.
However, the inflation for the lowest income strata has been recorded 39.41%.
In the current week, petrol prices have been jacked up by Rs20.74/litre, ghee prices gone up by Rs43.96/kg; egg prices by Rs11.53 per dozen; chicken by Rs31.11/kg; diesel by Rs17.11/litre; cigarette by Rs7.29 per pack; rice Rs4.50/kg; and plain bread by Rs3.06.
Prices of Dal Maash, Dal Masoor, yogurt, mutton, beef and sugar have also increased.
According to the bureau, prices of five items have decreased while rates of 12 commodities remained stable during this week.
