Sihala police Friday registered a case against an "unknown" owner over the intrusion of a leopard into Phase-II of Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The case included provisions of murder attempt. It was stated in the first information report (FIR) that the leopard was of Guldar breed and was dangerous to humans.
“The animal attacks humans and kills them. It had left five people including the wildlife officials injured the other day,” the FIR added.

The leopard had been caught after hectic eight-hour struggle by the wildlife officials. Residents of the area remained under the grip of terror while seeing the leopard intrude into houses in the residential area.
It merits a mention here that before being caught by the wildlife officials, the leopard kept jumping from one house into the second, and from the second into the third.
The wild animal also attacked many people, and it kept the wildlife officials running after it for several hours.
The animal also inflicted injuries on two wildlife officials and a guard of the DHA. It also tore through two traps set up to catch it, and it also escaped the shots that had been fired at it.
After several hours of struggle, the wildlife officials finally caught the leopard. It was locked in the basement of a house and given an anesthetic injection after which it was moved into a cage.

The Wildlife Department said that the officials had suffered minor injuries during the rescue operation.
“The leopard will be released into the habitat after medical examination,” it added.
The official sources said that presence of the leopard in the private housing society would be investigated.
They added that the animal was a pet of a resident of the private housing society.
“The leopard had escaped because the cage was left open by the owner’s servant,” they stated.
