The Power Division, in its report on the country’s worst power breakdown on January 23, 2023 submitted to the federal cabinet on Friday, has held the National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDC) officials, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) and the shift in-charge responsible, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
The report also consists of 13 recommendations.
The report says that it was not the electricity shortfall, but a fault in the conduits that developed after the addition of 600 megawatts of electricity from Sindh that had led to the blackout.
The report reads that it was Deputy MD System Operation Ali Zain Bantwala’s, who had been appointed in violation of the rules, responsibility to ensure the power supply.
On the failure to restore power supply on time, the report puts blame on three units of WAPDA.
It further says HVDC system, Lahore had developed a fault following the addition of 600 megawatts of electricity from Sindh.
The Power Division claims that it was 300 times in two years that the HVDC system developed a fault, but none paid any attention to it.
The reports recommends disciplinary action against NTDC officials, Power Control management, shift in-charge and his team.
