Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam- Fazal (JUI-F) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman Friday clarified that Lt Gen (retd) Faiz was not involved in no confidence move against PTI founder Imran Khan rather his successor and the current director-general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was behind the motion.

According to 24NewsHD TV channel, Fazlur Rehman, earlier in his interview to a private channel, held Lt Gen Faiz responsible for toppling Imran Khan’s government. However, he clarified that Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum was the man who was present along with the former Army Chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa at the time of motion.

He also alleged that the elections of 2018 were rigged and that the entire team of Gen (retd) Bajwa was responsible for it.

He warned that when the army officers enter into politics whether serving or retired his party will also give them a befitting response.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman also advised former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to join hands with him in the opposition. “I would request Nawaz Sharif to form a joint opposition against the government, he added.

JUI chief said that he was willing to meet Nawaz Sharif if needed to convince him to go along with him in the opposition.  He said that Nawaz Sharif was his friend and he would give him good advice.

He also expressed his desire to form a united opposition based on the reservations about the elections.
