The Lahore and Electricity Supply Company (Lesco ) has sent a citizen Rs23.5 million bill for 46 units, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
The meter reading picture printed on the bill showed just 46 units of electricity were consumed in January, but Lesco added 400867 units to the bill costing more than Rs23.5 million.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) findings revealed last year that the power distribution companies (Discos) fleeced consumers under various pretexts.
The inquiry revealed thousands of consumers were looted in July and August 2023. The Multan Electric Power Supply Company fleeced 5.7 million customers, Gujranwala Electric Power Supply Company 1.2 million, Faisalabad Electric Power Supply Company 800,000, Lahore Electric Power Supply Company 700,000 and Hyderabad Electric Supply Company 500,000.
Similarly, the Peshawar Electric Power Supply Company, Sukkur Electric Power Supply Company and Quetta Electric Power Supply Company did not let the chance to loot its common persons.
