There is a rapid surge in coronavirus cases in Karachi as the positivity rate in port city has touched 30.83 per cent on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In Pakistan, 4,344 cases of coronavirus have been registered in the past 24 hours and the ratio of positivity remained 8.71 per cent. While seven succumbed to the virus.
During the last 24 hours, the ‘city of lights’ has recorded 2,356 new cases. While 470 cases were confirmed of the ‘Omicron’ variant in the provincial capital of Sindh.
‘Lahoriites’, on the other hand, have also faced the threat of the highly mutated variant of the Covid-19, as 37 new cases of ‘Omicron’ were confirmed, taking the total number of cases of the variant to 473 in Punjab’s province.
In Islamabad, over 400 cases of coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, all the initiatives taken by the government to vaccinate the people in Lahore remained ineffective.
Despite, all the efforts put up by the government, only 50 per cent of the ‘Lahoriites’ have taken Covid-19 jabs.
For the age of over 12, the target of 860,000 Covid-19 doses had been set. Out of which only 460,000 citizens have received the jabs.
One of the factors of not achieving the target in the city is the lack of corporation of the citizens.
Moreover, the negligence shown by the primary health sector is another reason of not reaching the target.
