PDM will not contest by-elections on PTI's resigned 35 MNAs' seats: Fazl

Giving a big surprise to the opposition, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced that the alliance will not contest by-elections on the vacant seats of the resigned 35 Member National Assembly (MNAs) of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
According to the 24News HD TV channel, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the National Assembly speaker has accepted the resignations of 35 members of the PTI but the PDM has decided not to contest the elections on these seats.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman further stated that the sitting government will complete its parliamentary term as per the constitution and the general elections will be held at its scheduled time.
The sources said National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf has given a big surprise to PTI Chairman Imran Khan by accepting the resignation of 35 members of his party.
However, the PDM has decided that it will not participate in the by-elections to be held in these 35 seats after a month and a half, the sources said.
