Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqir has expressed his concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In a letter to Inspector General Police (IGP) and Director General Rangers, the Chief Minister wrote that law and order situation is bad in rural areas including big cities of Sindh.
The recent increase in crime in the province is very alarming, says text of the letter.
The Chief Minister expressed anger over the deteriorating peace situation.
The CM directed to take immediate steps to stop the rising crime wave in the province.
The increase in serious crime in the province is not welcome, the Sindh chief minister said. He said that incidents like street crime in Karachi are increasing day by day.
Newspapers and electronic media are constantly pointing out all the crime, the CM wrote.
There are also reports of attacks on election candidates and incidents of kidnapping in broad daylight, Chief Minister said.
“Women, children and the elderly in the society are suffering a lot from these crimes”, he said.
The CM said that journalists, lawyers, doctors, businessmen and other professionals face threats to life and property.
Despite the deteriorating situation, why are the law enforcement agencies still silent? Chief Minister questioned.
The Chief Minister directed to ensure the protection of the fundamental rights of the citizens listed in the constitution in all cases.
