Finance Minister Aurangzeb chairs ECC meeting

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Friday chaired a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
At the meeting, a proposal to do the annual electricity rebasing in January instead of July was approved. The Power Division presented its summary to the ECC on the basic power tariff. The ECC approved an extension in enforcement of regulatory duties on steel goods.
Also, the ECC approved Rs936 million for the pending salaries of the Pakistan Steel Mills employees from 2024. The ECC also removed the condition of bank guarantee, which was earlier required for the Afghan transit trade from the Gwadar Port.
The ECC approved Rs940 million for the FC North for the current fiscal year. The ECC approved a grant of Rs910 million for the Ministry of Food and Food Security. The ECC also approved Rs90 million for the Foreign Ministry.
