Motorway police in wee hours of Friday closed Lahore-Islamabad Motorway M-2, Lahore-Multan Motorway M-3, M-4 Motorway from Pindi Bhattian to Multan and Motorway M-5 from Multan to Taranda Muhammad Panah due to dense fog that engulfed several cities in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Motorway police spokesman Syed Imran Ahmad said that thick fog also darkened the National Highway including Thokar Niaz Baig, Pattoki, Okara and Sahiwal.
He said that Motorway police decided to close motorways to ensure safety and security of general public.
He said that drivers should ensure lane discipline while driving and any violation led to any severe accident.
He also advised passengers to prefer journey during day time. Syed Imran Ahmad said that 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. are best timings for travel.
Drivers should use front and back lights of their vehicles while driving on motorway and keep a reasonable distance from other vehicles.
Motorway spokesman said that in case of any emergency or guidance they should contact with Motorway Police on their Helpline 130.
